A New NAC Report
The National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC) has released a new publication to assist patient advocacy groups in their efforts to support diverse family caregivers. Through research with professional patient advocacy group representatives and diverse family caregivers in the condition areas of lung cancer, heart disease, blood cancer, and lupus, it addresses the impact of culture and identity on the way that family caregivers provide care, and introduces ways in which patient advocacy groups can support their caregiving experience through culturally responsive resources and supports. You can find the report here: NEW Guide for Patient Advocacy Groups to Support Diverse Family Caregivers | The National Alliance for Caregiving

The Contributions and Costs of Family Caregiving |
By 2034, adults age 65 and older will outnumber children under the age of 18, and the share of available family caregivers is projected to continue shrinking relative to the number of older adults who may need long-term care., according to The AARP Public Policy Institute’s new Valuing the Invaluable report. |
Family caregivers in the US spent 36 billion hours caring for adults with chronic, disabling, or serious health conditions in 2021, amounting to an estimated $600 billion in unpaid caregiving work.
|
|
Many family caregivers will continue to face the dual demands of employment and caregiving responsibilities, which often include caring for an older adult and children simultaneously. |
